It seems as if a number of important bills are in the House Resources committee. Three bills of particular importance should move from the Resources Committee this week. The bills are House Bill 306, sponsored by the House Energy Committee, which puts into place a statewide energy policy; House Bill 280, sponsored by Representative Mike Hawker, that deals with gas underground storage, natural gas and oil production tax credits for Cook Inlet production and relates to RCA and DNR Cook Inlet production; and House Bill 369, which I sponsored, that hopefully will expedite the construction of an in-state gasline.
The in-state gasline bill is scheduled to be heard again tonight and my expectations are that it will move from committee with amendments. I plan on getting it scheduled in the House Finance Committee as soon as practical and possible. We still have a lot of work to do on the bill but it is my intent to have this passed through both bodies before we adjourn in April.
A number of constituents visited this week. HEA officials and board members were in Juneau during the APA Conference. Also visiting the capital were Kenai Peninsula representatives from the Home Builders Association.
Holly Norwood from Nikiski also stopped by. She is with Apex Wind Energy and is working with HEA to install a 5 megawatt wind farm in Nikiski.
As always, it is a distinct pleasure to have guests from my district stop by to visit and let me know what their issues are.
